Curriculum

        Based on my observations, I know that UIC uses the K-12 curriculum. My cooperative teacher, if I observed, made lesson plans according to the existing curriculum guidelines. In addition, there are some elements in the lesson plans that have been added to this school. For example, the "Integration" section in the lesson plan. The function is for students to always relate their learning topics to the surrounding environment and also their religion.

Teaching Plan (related to my major)

       My major is Physical Education. During my internship here, I made lesson plans according to the sequence of materials in the current quarter. Here is an example of the sequence of materials available:

  • Music and Arts provides opportunities for students to be exposed to Philippine, Asian, and Western music.  The students learn the fundamental elements of music and apply these through performances such as individual and group singing, playing Filipino and Asian instruments, and creating music and movements in theatre, dance and stage presentations. 
  • Physical Education and Health promotes lifetime health and wellness through the integration of health and physical fitness concepts.  It aims to instill among the students the value of being healthy not only in the physical but also on the social, mental and emotional dimensions. The program provides opportunities for students to engage in various physical activities such as sports, recreational games, fitness exercises and dance. In particular, it aims to cultivate healthy habits, teamwork, resilience and resolve. Moreover, safety awareness and basic first aid measures supplement students’ development of life skills.

  • Included in the program is Citizen Advancement Training.  The students are given opportunities to practice their leadership skills such as serving and assisting in school and community events. They are also given activities to practice fitness exercises and physical trainings which will develop skills for emergency situations.

                      Our Field Trip In Davao City First Field Trip to Museo Dabawenyo With Buddies      On September 23, 2023, our next trip was with our friends from uic, Abi, Mech and Rudolf. 1. School: General Information and Academic Administrasion.

School Profile   The University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) was started in 1905. UIC is a private Catholic elementary and higher education institution managed by the Religiosity of the Virgin Mary in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Philippines. (Source:   Main Campus https://www.facebook.com/RVMUICDAVAO/photos/a.1947937795434119/2837965769764646/?type=3&theater )   After my observation, I learned that UIC has three separate campuses: Fr. Selga Campus (Main), Bonifacio Campus (Annex) and Bajada Campus (Basic Education). While in Davao city, I stayed at the Pater Selga (main campus) hotel. In this hotel we stayed with other international students and UIC students. This UIC hotel is male-only and has a rule that all gates and doors will be closed at 9pm. The facilities during our stay were well prepared, such as providing a separate kitchen out of respect for those of us who are Muslim. This made us feel comfortable during our stay at the UIC hotel.
